COVID-19 OPS Positions  

These are OPS (Other Personal Services) positions.These positions are currently funded through December 31, 2020. 

Health benefits will be offered for full-time employment. OPS employees are eligible to participate in a deferred compensation plan. Paid time off is not available for OPS positions.Learn more about State of Florida OPS employee benefits.

All positions:

  • May work outdoors to support COVID-19 testing.
  • Must have ability to work varied hours including nights and weekends according to agency needs.
  • Must display exceptional customer service, communicate effectively, and demonstrate a willingness to assist others.
  • Minimum Qualifications must be met; Training will be provided.
  • Candidates must be able to successfully complete a Level II Background Screening prior to employment.  
  • Are subject to Emergency Duty which involves working before, during and/or beyond normal work hours or days. Includes working in special needs or Red Cross shelters, or performing other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man-made or natural.

POSITION DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Epidemiology Case Investigaor – Biological Scientist IV
Minimum Qualifications required: Bachelor’s degree or higher in a Biological Science or Public health, or equivalent epidemiology  experience. 
  • This position will be based in Ft. Walton Beach, FL.; Weekend work required.
  • Assists with COVID-19 response within the Epidemiology Section. 
  • Performs COVID-19 case investigations, including interviewing cases, collecting and recording data, and providing education to reduce disease transmission.  Identifies linkages between cases and ensures case data accuracy.  Collaborates with Contract Tracers and supports additional COVID-19 response activities. Training provided.  
EPI Contact Tracer – Biological Scientist III 
Minimum Qualifications required: Associate's degree, ability to maintain accuracy and attention to detail, ability to be flexible in adapting to changes in priorities, assignments, and other interruptions
  • This position will be based in Ft. Walton Beach, FL; Weekend work required.
  • Supports case investigations by interviewing cases to establish the case history, obtains contact information, maintains records of cases.
  • Explains information and recommendations regarding isolation and quarantine parameters, services available to case, and monitors case for ongoing needs and disease clearance.
  • Answers telephone inquiries involved with contact tracing duties related to quarantine and monitoring of contacts.
  • Schedules COVID testing and gives test results.
  • Assists in various roles testing events, may include registration, traffic control, etc. 
  • Enters data into Excel and the surveillance system. 
Registered Nurse – Biological Scientist IV
Minimum Qualifications required: Licensure as a registered nurse in accordance with Florida Statute 464 or eligible to practice nursing in accordance with Florida Administrative Code 210-0827.
  • Supports COVID-19 testing at health department and community testing sites: collecting client data, completing laboratory forms, collecting specimens for COVID-19, packaging specimens for shipment, reconciling test results with orders, providing test results to clients, entering data into electronic health record and/or electronic data base and ordering labs in electronic health record.
  • Training will be provided for collection techniques, PPE and other laboratory processes
  • Supports additional COVID-19 response activities, as assigned.
Call Center Staff – GOVERNMENT OPERATIONS CONSULTANT I
Minimum Qualifications required: High School diploma or equivalent, customer service experience, excellent communication skills, excellent computer skills and data entry experience, including Excel.
  • This position will be based in Niceville, FL and will support test sites within Okaloosa County which may include evenings/weekends.
  • Answers telephone inquiries regarding COVID-19 based on provided DOH guidance.
  • Assists in various roles Health Department and Community testing events.
  • Enters data into Excel and other data systems.  
  • Supports additional COVID-19 response activities, as assigned.
Call Center Leads – GOVERNMENT OPERATIONS CONSULTANT II
Minimum Qualifications required: Associate's degree, lead worker or supervisory experience, customer service experience, excellent communication skills, excellent computer skills and data entry experience, including Excel.
  • This position will be based in Niceville, FL and will support test sites within Okaloosa County which may include evenings/weekends.
  • Provides on-site oversite of Call Center Staff.
  • Answers telephone inquiries regarding COVID-19 based on provided DOH guidance.
  • Assists in various roles Health Department and Community testing events
  • Enters data into Excel and other data systems.  
  • Supports additional COVID-19 response activities, as assigned.
Senior Clerk
Minimum Qualification required: high school diploma or equivalent and data entry experience. 
  • Supports COVID-19 operations, including Health Department and community testing sites.
  • Assists with set up for testing events, assisting with registration/labels for testing events, completing paperwork, scanning documents, performing data entry.
  • Assists packaging specimens for shipment, providing documentation of test results to clients, entering data into electronic health record and/or electronic data base, and ordering labs in electronic health record.
  • Screens clients and visitors to Health Department facilities.
  • Supports additional COVID-19 response activities, as assigned.

IT Support- GOVERNMENT OPERATIONS CONSULTANT I
Minimum Qualifications required: Associate's degree in computer science/information technology related field OR General Certification Information Technology OR at least one year of experience in information technology. 

  • Diagnose computer problems
  • Monitor computer processing systems
  • Install software
  • Perform troubleshooting tests on computer equipment or programs.
  • Set up computer equipment and run scheduled maintenance. 
  • Provide basic training for staff to use Microsoft Office programs.
