These are OPS (Other Personal Services) positions.These positions are currently funded through June 30, 2021. 

Health benefits will be offered for full-time employment. OPS employees are eligible to participate in a deferred compensation plan. Paid time off is not available for OPS positions.Learn more about State of Florida OPS employee benefits.

All positions:

  • May work outdoors to support COVID-19 testing and/or COVID-19 vaccinations.
  • Must have ability to work varied hours including nights and weekends according to agency needs.
  • Must display exceptional customer service, communicate effectively, and demonstrate a willingness to assist others.
  • Minimum Qualifications must be met; Training will be provided.
  • Candidates must be able to successfully complete a Level II Background Screening prior to employment.  
  • Are subject to Emergency Duty which involves working before, during and/or beyond normal work hours or days. Includes working in special needs or Red Cross shelters, or performing other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man-made or natural.

POSITION DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

EPI Contact Tracer – Biological Scientist III ($21/hr)
Minimum Qualifications required: Associate's degree, ability to maintain accuracy and attention to detail, ability to be flexible in adapting to changes in priorities, assignments, and other interruptions
  • This position will be based in Ft. Walton Beach, FL; Weekend work required.
  • Supports contact investigations by calling contacts to cases and maintaining records of contacts.
  • Explains information and recommendations regarding isolation and quarantine parameters, services available to case, and monitors case for ongoing needs and disease clearance.
  • Answers telephone inquiries involved with contact tracing duties related to quarantine and monitoring of contacts.
  • Schedules COVID testing.
  • Assists in various roles testing events, may include registration, traffic control, etc. 
  • Enters data into Excel and the surveillance system. 
Registered Nurse –  ($25/hr)
Minimum Qualifications required: Licensure as a registered nurse in accordance with Florida Statute 464 or eligible to practice nursing in accordance with Florida Administrative Code 210-0827.
  • Supports COVID-19 testing and vaccinations at health department and community testing sites: collecting client data, completing laboratory forms, collecting specimens for COVID-19, packaging specimens for shipment, reconciling test results with orders, providing test results to clients, entering data into electronic health record and/or electronic data base and ordering labs in electronic health record.
  • Training will be provided for collection techniques, PPE and other laboratory processes
  • Supports additional COVID-19 response activities, as assigned.

Licensed Practical Nurse –  ($20/hr)
Minimum Qualifications required: Licensure as a practical nurse in Florida

  • Supports COVID-19 testing and vaccinations at health department and community testing sites: collecting client data, completing laboratory forms, collecting specimens for COVID-19, packaging specimens for shipment, reconciling test results with orders, providing test results to clients, entering data into electronic health record and/or electronic data base and ordering labs in electronic health record.
  • Training will be provided for collection techniques, PPE and other laboratory processes
  • Supports additional COVID-19 response activities, as assigned.
Government Operations Consultant I ($18.50/hr)
Minimum Qualification required: high school diploma or equivalent and expereince with a mutli-line phone
  • Gathering and reporting information on patients diagnosed with COVID-19 and their close contact
  • Referring calls to appropriate staff as appropriate
  • Assisting with community testing event logistics as directed
  • Assisting with clerical duties as directed
  • Incumbent must understand and effectively communicate local testing capabilities and opportunities and refer clients to nursing staff as appropriate if there are symptoms needing immediate attention.
  • Incumbent will request and have regular access to a wide range of protected health information and must follow all laws and policies on accessing and sharing such data.
  • Excellent verbal communication and skills in dictation are required.
Government Operations Consultant II ($19.28/hr)
Minimum Qualification required: :  Two-year degree, lead worker or supervisory experience, customer service experience, excellent communication skills, excellent computer skills and data entry experience, including Excel.
  • This position will support test sites within Okaloosa County which may include evenings/weekends
  • Answers telephone inquiries regarding COVID-19 based on provided DOH guidance
  • Assists in various roles of Health Department and Community testing events
  • Enters data into Excel and other data systems
  • Supports additional COVID-19 response activities, as assigned

Government Operations Consultant II-Planner ($19.28/hr)
Minimum Qualification required: : Associates degree or higher in Emergency Management, Public Health, or closely related field OR at least six months, full-time experience working in a related field. Must have a valid driver’s license.

  • This position will be based in Ft. Walton Beach, FL.
  • A minimum of 40 hours per week. Evening and weekend work required.
  • Assists local Planning office by supporting vaccination operations, preparedness efforts, logistical operation and/or specific preparedness consultations.
  • Transports samples, supplies, or equipment in a fleet vehicle within the county
  • Supports additional COVID-19 response activities, as assigned.
Senior Clerk ($15/hr)
Minimum Qualification required: high school diploma or equivalent and data entry experience. Scheduled work may include weekends, evenings, and holidays.
  • Supports COVID-19 local response
  • Collects client data, completes laboratory forms, assists with specimen collection for COVID-19, packages specimens for shipment
  • Reconciles test results with orders
  • Provides test results to clients
  • Enters data into electronic health record and/or electronic data base and orders labs in electronic health record.
  • The incumbent in this position must display exceptional customer service, demonstrate competency of skill, have the ability to communicate effectively, demonstrate a willingness to assist others and solve problems.
