DOH-OKALOOSA ISSUES WATER QUALITY HEALTH ADVISORY

March 22, 2024

FT. WALTON BEACH, Fla. The Florida Department of Health in Okaloosa County (DOH-Okaloosa) has issued a water quality advisory for the following locations:

Liza Jackson Park
388 Miracle Strip Pkwy SW
Fort Walton Beach, FL 32548

Lincoln Park
1217 N Bayshore Dr
Valparaiso, FL 32580

Rocky Bayou State Park
4281 E Highway 20
Niceville, FL 32578

Tests completed on March 18, 2024 indicate that the water quality at Liza Jackson Park, Lincoln Park, and Rocky Bayou State Park do not meet the recreational water quality criteria for Enterococcus bacteria recommended by the Florida Department of Health.

DOH-Okaloosa advises against any water-related activities at this location due to an increased risk of illness in swimmers. Sampling conducted during regular water quality monitoring showed that the level of bacteria exceeds the level established by state guidelines.

This advisory will continue until bacteria levels are below the accepted health level. Test results are available at FloridaHealth.gov/HealthyBeaches.
