DOH-Okaloosa Issues Water Quality Health Advisory May 16

FT. WALTON BEACH, Fla. — The Florida Department of Health in Okaloosa County (DOH-Okaloosa) has issued a water quality advisory for the following locations:
Clement E. Taylor Park
131 Calhoun Ave
Destin, FL 32541
James Lee Park
3510 Scenic Highway 98
Destin, FL 32541
Lincoln Park
1217 N Bayshore Dr
Valparaiso, FL 32580
Rocky Bayou State Park
4281 E Highway 20
Niceville, FL 32578
Tests completed on May 13, 2024 indicate that the water quality at Clement E. Taylor Park, James Lee Park, Lincoln Park and Rocky Bayou State Park do not meet the recreational water quality criteria for Enterococcus bacteria recommended by the Florida Department of Health.
DOH-Okaloosa advises against any water-related activities at this location due to an increased risk of illness in swimmers. Sampling conducted during regular water quality monitoring showed that the level of bacteria exceeds the level established by state guidelines.
This advisory will continue until bacteria levels are below the accepted health level. Test results are available at FloridaHealth.gov/HealthyBeaches.
