Preparedness Mission Statement

DOH-Okaloosa Public Health Preparedness Section will prepare our staff members; our community partners; county agencies; businesses, industries, and non-profit organizations; military communities; and our county’s residents to be organized with the information and resources needed to respond to an event that may impact the health and safety of the citizens of Okaloosa County.

Preparedness Vision Statement

Using an All-Hazards Response approach, DOH-Okaloosa Public Health Preparedness will respond effectively and efficiently to all emergencies and public health threats.

Preparedness Program Goals

  • Prepare and respond to natural disasters, terrorist events, or disease outbreaks
  • Build and sustain community partnerships for response to public health emergencies
  • Work during times of public health emergencies; such as quarantine and isolation, mass prophylaxis and immunization, and acute or chronic environmental health issues
  • Identify and develop response resources and capacity under Emergency Support Function 8 (ESF-8), Health and Medical
