Healthy Okaloosa Child Care
The Healthy Okaloosa initiative uses consistent messaging in multiple settings to reach families where they live, learn, work and play. The Healthy Okaloosa 5210 message promotes 5 or more fruits and vegetables daily, limiting recreational screen time to 2 hours or less, engaging in physical activity for 1 hour or more and cutting back on sugar sweetened beverages, preferably to 0. Healthy Okaloosa encourages breastfeeding and being tobacco free. DOH-Okaloosa publicly celebrates organizations which are committed to a Healthy Okaloosa culture, where we all benefit from lower healthcare costs, healthier children and families, and a happy, healthy lifestyle in Okaloosa County!

Child care centers and family day care homes in Okaloosa County are now invited to participate in the Go NAPSACC program! Go NAPSACC is research based online tool to guide early childhood educators through the process of making meaningful changes to improve children’s health. The NAPSACC online portal is filled with helpful videos, activities, and flyers. Topics include Child Nutrition, Infant & Child Physical Activity, Outdoor Play & Learning, and more. A Go NAPSACC Consultant is available here in Okaloosa County to help you get started.
