HIV Testing

Florida Department of Health in Okaloosa County

Florida Department of Health in Okaloosa County (DOH-Okaloosa) offers two forms of FREE and CONFIDENTIAL HIV testing:
  • Rapid Testing: involves a finger prick to draw blood and takes approximately 20 minutes to get results.
  • NEW! Oral Swab: At-home OraQuick test kit involves oral mouth swab with results in 20 minutes.

Call 850-833-9246 to order a free at-home HIV test kit or to schedule an appointment to come into our office for an HIV test.

Getting tested for HIV can be scary. While waiting for your results, it is important to think about what you can do to protect yourself from HIV.

Risk factors such as having casual sex, not using a condom correctly, and being an IV drug user can greatly increase your chances of getting HIV.

If results are negative for HIV, Pre-exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) is a once-a-day pill that can prevent you from getting HIV. If taken correctly, PrEP along with correct condom use can prevent the spread of HIV almost 100% of the time.

If you test positive for HIV, DOH-Okaloosa will provide you with medication that day and will assist you with getting the care you need. Contact us to get your medication and to receive care at 850-510-0228
