Group care facilities that are regulated by the Florida Department of Health in Okaloosa County must apply for a Group Care Permit. The following items are required to permit a Group Care Establishment in Okaloosa County:

The Agency for Health Care Administration regulates many group care facilities that serve the elderly, the disabled and mental health facilities. Information on the permitting or inspections of these facilities can be found at online or by calling 888-419-3456.

The Florida Department of Children & Families regulates numerous residential facility types serving children and individuals receiving treatment for addiction. Information regarding permitting or inspections of these facilities can be found online or by calling 1-866-762-2237.

The Agency for Persons with Disabilities regulates food service in group homes that serve persons with disabilities. Information on the permitting or inspections of these facilities can be found online or by calling 1-866-273-2273.

The Florida Department of Education (DOE) has the responsibility and authority to write rules for public and private schools in Florida and the Department of Health has inspection authority to apply DOE standards.
