Ms. Shelton brings an extraordinary background of leadership, service, and dedication. She served nearly 29 years in the United States Air Force, culminating in key leadership roles at the Defense Health Headquarters. Her work as Special Assistant to the Air Force Surgeon General and Senior Program Director for the Defense Health Agency transformed healthcare operations across the Military Health System, impacting thousands of personnel and facilities worldwide.
A graduate of Tuskegee University, Ms. Shelton holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Master of Science in Emergency and Disaster Management. Her distinguished career includes service as a Flight Nurse in Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom, earning numerous military honors, including the Legion of Merit and multiple Meritorious Service Medals.
Her community involvement includes Secretary and Board member of the Emerald Coast Community Wellness Foundation and member of United Way’s Women United. Since retiring from active duty, Ms. Shelton has continued her commitment to excellence through work with the Veterans Health Administration and extensive community involvement, mentoring youth, supporting education initiatives, and serving on nonprofit boards.
