DOH-OKALOOSA ENCOURAGES RESIDENTS TO CELEBRATE NATIONAL HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH

FORT WALTON BEACH, Fla–The Florida Department of Health in Okaloosa County (DOH-Okaloosa) encourages residents to celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 to October 15. Hispanic Heritage Month recognizes the achievements and contributions of Hispanic Americans who have inspired others to achieve success. The theme for 2022 is “Unidos: Inclusivity for a Stronger Nation”.

Okaloosa County residents can celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month by participating in many ways, including attending local events. DOH-Okaloosa is partnering with Latin Flair Events to provide free bicycle helmets, bicycle safety education, nutrition education and more at the Viva Ciclovia Latin Street Fest.

Take to the streets to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month. Free and open to the public. Attendees are encouraged to walk, bike, jog or roll to the event to celebrate and learn about living a healthy lifestyle. Free bicycle helmets and safety education will be provided to children while supplies last.

The event will be on October 15 from noon– 8:00 p.m. in downtown Ft. Walton Beach- 139 Brooks Street SE.
