The purpose of Tuberculosis and Refugee Health is to eliminate tuberculosis as a public health threat in Florida; ensure appropriate public health screenings of all newly arriving refugees, and provide services for TB health screenings in our area.

The Tuberculosis Control staff members are engaged in a wide array of activities including:

  • Clinical services
  • Field services (outreach)
  • Surveillance
  • Administrative Support

How to Report a Case of TB 

Under the following circumstances, you should make a report to the TB Manager:

• Laboratory confirmation of TB disease
• TB disease is suspected based on clinical or radiological examination of the patient
• A client is started on two or more anti-TB medications

A report of TB may be made either by telephone to 850-833-9240 x. 2160  or by fax to 850-833-7577.

On receiving a report, the program manager will contact the reporting physician or facility to obtain further information regarding the suspected case.
